What Counts as a Construction Delivery

Construction delivery covers the freight that has to land on or near an active site. The patterns Comet sees across Florida:

• Building materials. Lumber, drywall, masonry, steel, roofing, insulation, and fasteners delivered to general contractors and subcontractors.
• Fixtures and finishes. Cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, tile, plumbing, and electrical fixtures staged for installation.
• Equipment moves. Generators, compressors, scaffolding, and small machinery in and out of a site.
• Trade-specific materials. HVAC components, sprinkler heads, concrete forms, pre-fabricated assemblies, and curtain-wall panels.
• Job-site swing freight. Materials moving between sites as a single GC works multiple projects simultaneously.
• Hot-shot construction runs. Single-pallet pickups when a crew is line-down waiting on one item (paired with our hot shot delivery service).

How Comet Runs a Construction Delivery

A construction run starts with a phone call to South Florida dispatch. We capture the supplier pickup, the job-site delivery address, the gate or access notes, the foreman's contact number, the materials description and pallet count, what the receiving setup looks like (dock, liftgate, on-grade lay-down), and the crew's preferred window. Dispatch sequences the run against Florida traffic patterns, weather, and the gate hours.

From there, the truck is dedicated. The driver is not picking up other customers' materials along the way. The route is built around the construction window, not around a carrier's efficiency target. When the truck arrives, the driver coordinates with the foreman on placement so the freight ends up where the crew needs it, not stranded at the front of the site.

Equipment Matched to Florida Job Sites

Job-site receiving is rarely consistent. Some sites have a foreman with a forklift and dock-height staging. Others have nothing but dirt, a curb, and a window of clear access. Comet's fleet covers the range:

• Liftgate-equipped box trucks and straight trucks for sites without dock or forklift access.
• Flatbed trucks for steel, lumber, drywall, and long-length materials that have to come off the side.
• Tractor-trailers for full-load runs from supplier yards to large active sites.
