Dedicated Delivery Service in Florida
When a Comet driver gets dispatched, that truck is dedicated to one customer's freight for the entire move. We do not commingle your shipment with other companies' freight, we do not build routes around our own efficiency, and we do not hand your cargo off between drivers. The shipment is the priority, your timeline drives the route, and the driver is accountable from pickup to delivery.
That is what dedicated delivery means at Comet, and it is the model we have run for clients across South Florida and beyond since day one. From print runs that have to hit press deadlines, to medical freight that cannot be left at a terminal, to manufacturing parts that need to reach an assembly line on time, dedicated service is built around your shipment instead of someone else's route.
What Dedicated Delivery Means at Comet
Dedicated delivery at Comet is not about assigning a single driver to your account forever, although we do handle plenty of recurring work that way. The dedicated piece is the service model itself. When we dispatch a truck for your move, that truck, that driver, and that load are dedicated to your shipment until it is delivered.
Your freight is not riding alongside three other customers' pallets, it is not waiting at a terminal for a connecting route, and it is not getting moved at someone else's convenience. From the moment we accept the load to the moment your consignee signs for it, your shipment is the only job on that truck. This is the same approach we take in our courier services and expedited shipping work, scaled up for full truckloads and recurring lanes.
Dedicated Service vs LTL: Why Your Freight Stays Yours
A less-than-truckload, or LTL, carrier builds its routes around what is most efficient for the carrier. Multiple shipments from different shippers get picked up, sorted, and delivered in whatever sequence works best for the operation. That model can save money on paper, but it also means missed windows, extra handling, longer transit, and a chain of custody that is hard to track when something goes wrong.
Dedicated delivery is the opposite of LTL in every way that matters to a shipper. One customer's freight on one truck for one move. No terminal stops, no cross-dock sorts you did not ask for, no waiting for a route to fill up before your shipment moves. The driver who picks up your load is the driver who delivers it, status updates come straight from that driver, and accountability stays with Comet from pickup to delivery. When you do need consolidation or cross-dock handling, we offer those separately through our freight consolidation and cross-docking services so dedicated stays dedicated.
Equipment Dedicated to Your Shipment
Comet dispatches the right vehicle for the load, not whatever is rolling next out of the yard. Our in-house fleet runs the dedicated work directly: cargo vans for small and time-critical moves, including our last-mile delivery runs, box trucks for pallet quantities, and straight trucks with liftgates for ground-level deliveries to locations without a dock. For oversized loads that have to ride on a flatbed and for drayage moves out of the Port of Miami, we coordinate the work through a vetted partner network and dispatch it under the same dedicated standard — one customer's freight on one truck from pickup to delivery. Every move, whether on our own equipment or a partner's, runs through the same Miami operations team that has handled dedicated work for our long-term customers for decades.
Industries We Move Dedicated Loads For
Dedicated delivery fits any business where the shipment cannot afford to be one of many on a shared truck. Print and publishing customers send time-sensitive runs that have to arrive intact and on schedule, including long-standing partners we have served since the company was founded. Medical and pharmaceutical shippers need chain of custody and minimum handling. Manufacturers move parts and finished goods on tight production windows. Fulfillment and e-commerce operations use Comet to cover overflow volume or to move inventory between facilities without exposing freight to a sortation network, often pairing dedicated runs with our Amazon FBA shipping service. Trade show logistics, retail, and event teams use dedicated runs to hit setup windows that LTL cannot guarantee.
South Florida Coverage With Miami-Orlando Linehaul
Comet is based in Miami and runs dedicated work across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach every day. We also operate a hub-to-hub linehaul between Miami and Orlando, which means a dedicated load picked up in South Florida can be moved straight up the I-95 or Turnpike corridor and into the Central Florida market on a controlled, single-carrier move. No terminal handoffs in between, no waiting for a regional sort. That gives shippers a clean lane from the Port of Miami and South Florida warehouses into Orlando-area fulfillment, retail, and distribution destinations. When dedicated is overkill for a single small parcel, our courier services can cover the same lane on a faster turnaround.
Why Businesses Choose Comet for Dedicated Delivery
Customers stay with Comet for years and sometimes decades because the dedicated model removes the things that make logistics painful. There is one phone number to call. There is one driver responsible for the load. There is no terminal in the middle adding handling damage and unexplained delays. Dedicated delivery is how we have always done the work, and it pairs naturally with our expedited shipping and last-mile delivery services when an account needs a full transportation partner instead of a single move.
Comet has served South Florida shippers since the company's founding, and several of our original print, publishing, and manufacturing accounts are still moving freight with us today. That kind of retention is rare in transportation, and it is the clearest proof that the dedicated model works for businesses that cannot afford handling damage, missed windows, or freight stuck at someone else's terminal.

Dedicated Delivery FAQs
Is dedicated delivery the same as a contract carrier?
Not necessarily. A contract carrier is usually a long-term agreement for guaranteed capacity. Dedicated delivery at Comet is a service model: every move is dispatched as a dedicated truck whether it is a one-time shipment or part of a recurring lane. You get the dedicated treatment without being locked into a long-term contract.
Is dedicated more expensive than LTL?
Sometimes, but not always, and the comparison is rarely apples to apples. LTL pricing looks cheaper on paper, but dedicated removes the cost of missed windows, handling damage, and the time your team spends chasing freight through someone else's terminal. For many of our customers, dedicated is the lowest total cost option once those factors are included.
Can you handle recurring dedicated routes?
Yes. Many of our long-standing customers move freight on a daily, weekly, or seasonal cadence and rely on Comet to keep that cadence going without interruption.
Do you offer dedicated linehaul between cities?
Yes. Miami to Orlando is our most-requested dedicated linehaul lane, and we run it as a single-carrier move with no terminal stops in between.
