Hot shot fits a specific kind of shipment: small enough to fit on one truck, urgent enough that adding even one extra stop is not acceptable, and important enough that the cost of waiting is bigger than the cost of dedicating a truck. We see the same patterns over and over across Florida:

How Comet Dispatches a Hot Shot Run

The phone call is short. Our dispatcher takes the pickup address, the delivery address, the dimensions and weight of the freight, the equipment needed (van, box truck, straight truck, or tractor-trailer), and the deadline. Within minutes, the closest available Comet truck is assigned, an ETA is back to you, and the driver is en route to pickup.

From there, the run is dedicated. The driver is not picking up other customers' freight on the way to your drop. The route is built around your timeline, not around a carrier's efficiency target. Status updates come back through our dispatch desk, by phone or email, whenever you want them. Comet does not put customers on a public GPS feed of the driver, but our dispatchers will give you straight answers any time you ask.

Equipment Built for Time-Critical Freight

Hot shot runs do not all need the same truck. A box of medical samples needs a sprinter or cargo van moving fast. A pallet of construction fixtures needs a liftgate box truck. A skid of trade-show booth gear may need a straight truck or a flatbed depending on what is being moved. Comet's fleet covers all of it:
