Florida Logistics, Run on Dedicated Delivery

Logistics is the chain of moves between manufacturer and end customer. Plenty of providers can quote the line items. Fewer can run them on a single dedicated-delivery model, with one point of accountability from receiving through final mile. That is what Comet does in Florida.

Out of our 35,000-square-foot Miami headquarters and our Orlando hub, we move freight for shippers, retailers, and manufacturers across the state. Every truck we dispatch is dedicated to one customer's freight, not commingled at a terminal. The result is fewer missed windows, less handling damage, and the kind of accountability that long-term partners stay with.

Logistics Services

End-to-End, Inside Florida

Comet has been in the Florida freight business since 1977. Our operations cover inbound port pickup at PortMiami, customs-bonded handling on duty-controlled freight, warehousing and distribution from our Miami facility, cross-docking and freight consolidation, the daily Miami-Orlando linehaul, and last-mile delivery into Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, the Treasure Coast, and Central Florida.

Most clients use more than one of those services. The advantage of putting them all under one provider is the accountability runs end to end. When something goes sideways at one stage, the same team sees the next stage of the move and adjusts.

What Comet Logistics Actually Does

Inbound port pickup and customs-bonded handling

Inbound freight from PortMiami, MIA, FLL, and MCO can come in via our drayage service, run by TWIC-credentialed drivers. For duty-controlled freight that has to stay in bonded custody, we operate as a U.S. Customs bonded carrier, which keeps the freight under bond from the port through release.

Warehousing, cross-docking, and consolidation

Once freight lands in Miami it can do three things. Sit in our warehousing and distribution facility on managed inventory, fast-turn through cross-docking for same-day outbound, or combine with other shipments through freight consolidation for cost-effective onward movement. Most clients use some combination depending on the SKU velocity.

Trucking, LTL, and linehaul

Outbound moves run on our trucking service for full truckloads or LTL shipping for partial loads. South Florida LTL specifically is served by Miami local LTL freight, and the Miami-to-Orlando corridor runs daily on our linehaul service.

Last-mile and final delivery

The final stop into a customer's hands runs on our last-mile delivery service. For residential drop-offs, home delivery. For high-value or fragile items, white glove delivery. For ground-level locations without a dock, liftgate delivery. For dock-receiving locations, dock-to-dock. Multi-stop routes are coordinated through delivery route planning.

Specialized logistics

For the categories where the freight needs more than a truck, we also run trade show logistics into convention centers, retail fixtures and FF&E for store rollouts, retail replenishment for chain restocks, Amazon FBA shipping for sellers moving inventory to FBA hubs, construction delivery to jobsites, and reverse logistics for returns and asset recovery.

Time-Critical Options

When the delivery window is the constraint, we run separate service tiers for urgency. Dedicated delivery is the default. On top of that we offer same-day delivery, hot shot delivery, expedited shipping, on-demand delivery, emergency delivery, and courier service.

The Operational Difference: Dedicated Delivery

Most freight providers run commingled freight. Multiple shippers' loads share a truck, get sorted at a terminal, and move in whatever sequence is most efficient for the carrier. That model is built for the carrier, not the shipper.

Comet runs the opposite way by default. When we dispatch a truck and driver for your shipment, that truck moves your freight only. Pickup goes direct to delivery, or back to our facility if final delivery is not happening immediately. No terminal sort, no commingled load, no waiting for the truck to fill up. The schedule that matters is yours.

That is why long-term partners stay with us. Cost-per-pound is competitive with commingled freight once you account for the damage rates, missed-window costs, and accountability gaps in the other model.

Shipment-Level Visibility, Not Driver GPS

Our dispatch team is staffed twenty-four hours a day. Call any time for a status update on a shipment. We coordinate directly with the driver and report pickup confirmation, in-transit status, and proof of delivery back to you. Tracking at Comet is by shipment, not by driver. We do not expose live driver GPS to clients.
